1983. Seismological Observatory, Geophysics Division.  Timekeeping in New Zealand. Alpha 36. 4 p

Abstract: There will always be a need for accurate timekeeping. Digital watches are now commonplace, and their owners are naturally conscious of accurate time. In the scientific community, astronomers and seismologists, among others, need access to accurate clocks for their measurements, and it is very convenient to have time signals obtainable via the broadcast band on any domestic radio.
