Fyfe, H.E. 1968 Geology of Murchison Subdivision. Wellington: Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. New Zealand Geological Survey bulletin 36 51 p.

Abstract: The Murchison Subdivision has an area of 1850 square miles. It contains some of the most rugged country in New Zealand outside the highest parts of the Southern Alps. The geology is particularly varied, both in stratigraphy and structure. The inclusion of the Maruia Subdivision added a region of particularly complex structure and stratigraphy west of, and associated with, the prominent bends of the Alpine-Wairau Fault, and also added an extra set of rocks: regional schists now included in the Haast Schist Group.
