Abstract: This bulletin describes the geology of sheet districts S175 and S167, which include Rowallon, Hauroko, Lillburn, and Alton survey districts, and parts of Waitutu, Longwood, Waiau, Monowai, Cleughearn, and Takatimu survey districts. It covers 552 square miles, taking in the lower part of the Waiau Valley, a large adjacent tract of undulating forested country, and the margin of the mountainous region of Fiordland. The western half of the area is covered with heavy forest up to the timberline between 2200 and 3300 ft. (auth)
