Stout, M.L. 1971 Landslide investigation, Utiku slip. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 109 23 p.

Abstract: This report presents the results and recommendations of an engineering geologic review and study of the Utiku slip, a slow moving earth mass, crossing the North Island Main Railway at and around milepost 271. The purpose on the investigation was to review existing geological data, subsurface data, triangulation data, hydrologic data, and meteorologic data of the area in order to evaluate the mechanics of failure in an attempt to define measures which could be used to bring about partial or complete stabilisation of the slide mass.
