Grant-Taylor, T.L. 1971 Report on stability of cuttings on western and southern sides of Rugby League Park below Hutchison Rd for Wellington City Corporation. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 113 4 p.

Abstract: The rockfall at the western side of Rugby League Park appears to have occurred in an old debris mass. More material will fall. This old debris mass probably extends above Hutcheson Road and the new cut there is also of doubtful stability. The cut at the south end of the park includes an old fault zone in its higher part and this is also thought to be unstable at the present batter angle, particularly with the bench about three quarters of the way up. Pine trees below Hutcheson Road will probably increase infiltration of surface water and cause downslope movement by root wedging. (auth)
