Hegan, B.D. 1972 Moawhango-Tongariro tunnel Waipakihi investigations. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 164 6 p.

Abstract: A summary of the previous investigations of the Waipakihi River crossing can be found in the N.Z.G.S. report ''Report on the Geology of the Tongariro-Moawhango Tunnel Line'' issued on the 12 August 1971. During the present investigations three vertical and two inclined core diamond drill holes were drilled on tunnel line in the present channel of the Waipakihi River. A further two cored diamond drill holes, one upstream the other downstream from the tunnel line, were also put down. The drill hole layout is shown on plan 100/M/52. Core from all the drill holes were logged on site with the logs being issued as each hole was completed. (auth)
