Williams, D.N. 1973 Maui pipeline project, proposed Kapuni-New Plymouth pipeline. Geological report. Lower Hutt: DSIR, New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 167 4 p.

Abstract: Geological survey comment on a proposed pipeline route was requested by the Maui Pipeline Project Office, Ministry of Works, by letter of 31 July, 1973. A preliminary investigation of the route has been made from the study of aerial photographs and existing records. The proposed pipeline route lies on the eastern flank of Mt Egmont, 5 to 15 km west of the present pipeline. Broadly similar trenching conditions can be expected along the new route, but in detail the geology is different. As a result of siting closer to the source of the bouldery lahar deposits, large blocks will be encountered in some sections. (auth)
