Riddolls, B.W. 1973 Geological investigations for Rangipo Dam, Tongariro power development. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 169 7 p.
Abstract: The Rangipo Dam will be constructed mainly in bouldery andesite alluvium, possibly with some andesite flow-rock at the west abutment, depending on the final alignment. Field evidence suggests that reasonable foundations should exist, but the site should first be fully investigated by drilling, together with measurements of permeabilities. Interpretation of subsurface conditions would be assisted considerably by a seismic refraction survey of the site. (auth)
