Abstract: Several faces have been logged geologically during occasional visits made to the excavations for the Tekapo settling basin foundations. The faces were generally at the bottom of the excavation where Tekapo alluvium was being removed, and along the right hand embarkment in the Tekapo Till. The locations of these faces are given in Figure 1 and their logs are given in Figures 4 and 5. Also included are the logs of test pits TP55, TP56, TP57 (Fig. 3) and Benoto shaft S 57 dug during the excavations. This report adds further data to the report of Mansergh (1974) and discusses some further engineering implications. The three geological cross-sections given by Mansergh are redrawn in approximately the same location as Figure 2. The locations of the cross-sections are given in Figure 1. (auth)
