Read, S.A.L. 1975 Pukaki Lake control - right bank, thickness of ''Natural blanket''. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 232 14 p.

Abstract: The Pukaki Lake Control earth dam and canal inlet, now under construction, will utilise upstream blankets to prevent leakage under and around the structures (layout on sheet 1). In addition to these placed blankets a ''natural blanket'', consisting of fine grained Tekapo Till and contoured Sediments Member, exists above relatively much more permeable 'gravel' consisting of Mt John Outwash Gravel and Contact Zone. The problem of leakage through and under the earth dam was recognised early in investigations which started in 1964. This report summarised the majority of the investigations which have been done in the right bank area since 1964, and shows the thickness and extent of the 'natural blanket' between and under the upstream blankets and structures. Recommendations to extend the blanket and carry out further investigations are made. (auth)
