Read, S.A.L. 1976 Ohau A power project, Ostler fault zone: proposal for monitoring precursory movements. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 260 8 p.

Abstract: The prediction of fault movement within the Olster Fault Zone together with the associated earthquake is most important to the Ohau A Power Project. The Ohau A Powerhouse is sited adjacent to a fault trace within the fault zone and the canals leading to the powerhouse cross or are adjacent to fault traces within the fault zone (layout on sheet 1). In August 1974 proposals for monitoring precursory movements prior to fault movement using the tilt levelling method were put forward (Lensen 1974a). As no follow up to this report occurred, Lensen's proposals after some further discussion, have been modified slightly and are the subject of this report. Background on the zone is given in Mansergh and Read (1973). A more detailed report on the fault zone including studies to date and future work is in preparation. (auth)
