Brown, I.R. 1978 A study of reservoir slope stability, Kawarau Gorge, Clutha power project. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 287 8 p.

Abstract: The hydro-electric development of the Kawarau River as part of the Clutha Power Project will create reservoirs in the Kawarau Valley. The natural slopes of the northern banks of the valley that will be submerged are covered with low strength superficial deposits that may become unstable under these conditions. Site investigations have given some indication of the nature of these materials, and this report describes some preliminary stability analyses that have been carried out. (auth)
