Hegan, B.D. 1988 Mohaka River power investigations : report on engineering geological investigations : Raupunga site. [Lower Hutt]: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 398 97 p.

Abstract: Engineering geological investigations to assess the feasibility of two proposed power development options at Raupunga have been completed. While the study has not found any geotechnical features which would preclude the development of either the M15 or M17 sites there are geotechnical difficulties associated with the future development of either site. While it may be premature to select between the two sites on the basis of the present investigations, the M17 site may be seriously disadvantaged by the presence of highly erodable sandstone in the abutments and along the diversion tunnel route. No significant faults have been located in the study area. Reservoir stability has been assessed and further work is required on the seismic stability of siltstone slopes near the proposed dam sites. Construction materials are available near the site area. (auth)
