Abstract: The year 2015 marked the 20th anniversary of the 1995–1996 Ruapehu eruptions, the 40th anniversary of the 1975 Ngauruhoe eruption and the 70th anniversary of the 1945 Ruapehu eruption. In 2005, a workshop was held at Whakapapa Village to reflect on a decade of research and lessons from the 1995–1996 Ruapehu eruption. In the 10 years since 2005, the Crater Lake breakout, the 2007 Ruapehu eruption and the 2012 Te Maari eruptions have occurred. On 13th–16th August 2015, a volcanic science and risk management workshop (‘Volcano 2015’) was held at the Visitor Centre, Department of Conservation, Whakapapa Village, to reflect on two decades of progress in managing eruption hazards at the Tongariro National Park volcanoes. This workshop was accompanied by a public talk and associated activities. This volume is a record of the workshop proceedings. It includes the workshop programme, abstracts for oral and poster presentations and an associated public talk, a record of a panel discussion held at the end of the workshop, and a summary of audience responses to two questions on volcanic science and risk management.
