This three day short-course serves as an introduction to the fundamentals of land or Marine seismic data processing. It provides a brief theoretical background in geophysics, reinforced with some practical processing experience using GLOBE Claritas™ software. The objectives of seismic processing are explained, with a focus on the consequences and pitfalls of processing decisions on the final seismic image.

About the Course

The course is designed to give attendees practical experience in processing land or Marine seismic data from field data to final migration. The content includes:


  • Geometry – land / marine
  • Statics – refraction, residual, SSD statics etc.
  • Signal processing
  • Multiple attenuation – marine data particularly
  • Coherency processing
  • Velocity analysis
  • Imaging : DMO / PreSTM / PostSTM
  • Producing final SEG-Y products

 The dataset’s are exploration seismic lines from Taranaki, New Zealand, that will be used in conjunction with supplied workflows and support data.

Recommended Background

This course requires no previous seismic processing or geophysics knowledge.
