Abstract: This report covers the region generally referred to as southern Hawkes Bay and northern Wairarapa. The northern limit is taken as the Ngaruroro River (just north of Hastings, and the southern boundary as an arbitrary east-west line passing just south of Eketahuna. The limestone resources of southern Wairarapa have been described in a previous report (Moore 1976).The purpose of the report is to outline the distribution, and describe the nature, quality, reserves and uses of the various limestone types in the region. The report is aimed at assisting future development of this important resource.
