McPherson, R.I. 1986 Economic geology of the Bannockburn District, Central Otago. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. Report NZGS 94. 27 p.

Abstract: This report describes the regional and economic geology of the Bannockburn district of Central Otago. Basement schists (textural zones IIb, IIIA, IIIB and IV). Tertiary sediments of the Manuherikia Group, and several Quaternary and Recent gravel units are mapped. The area has been the scene of mining activity since 1862, and economically significant deposits of gold (lode and alluvial), coal, clay and silica sand are described. Appendix I gives further notes on gold and antimony lodes of the Carrick Goldfield. Maps show the generalised geology of the Bannockburn district and the location of lodes and workings in the Carrick Goldfield.
