Hicks, S.R. 1976 Hurunui River power development: seismic survey no. 2, Dog Hill Stream junction: seismic survey no. 3, South Branch junction. : . Report / Geophysics Division 122 27 p.

Abstract: Seismic refraction surveys were conducted on Dam Sites 2 and 3 of the Hurunui River hydro-electric power development scheme, at the junctions of the Hurunui River with the Dog Hill Stream and with the South Branch of the Hurunui River. The greywacke basement profile at Site 2 shows a steady fall from the western hills to the river, but at Site 3 there is a buried channel system over 60 m deep, separated from the present river channel by an outcropping ridge of rock. The overlying gravels on each site can be sub-divided on the basis of their seismic velocities.
