Mackie, J.B. 1979 Deviation of the vertical in the South Island, New Zealand. [s.l.]: [s.n.]. Report / Geophysics Division 141 15 p

Abstract: Observations of both astronomic and geodetic latitudes and longitudes have been made over a period of years at many stations in New Zealand, principally by the Lands and Survey Department and by the University of Otago. The derived values of the deviation of the vertical have been tabulated for 51 stations in the South Island of New Zealand. The magnitude of the observed deviations range up to about 25 seconds of arc. Standard errors of the deviations are mostly in the range from 0.2 to 0.5 seconds of arc, but a few observations with standard errors of 1 to 2 seconds of arc, derived from astronomic azimuth determinations, are also included
