Practical Introduction to Seismic Processing Training Course

This three day course serves as an introduction to the fundamentals of seismic data processing. It provides a brief theoretical background in geophysics, reinforced with some practical processing experience using GLOBE Claritas™ software. The attendees can choose to focus on either land or marine seismic data.

When: 11th to 13th March 2019

Where: GNS Science, 1 Fairway Drive, Avalon, Lower Hutt 5010, New Zealand

How much: NZD$575.00 per person (Full price $1725.00)

About the Course

The course is designed to give attendees practical experience in processing seismic data from field data to final migration.

The content includes:

  • Seismic processing: methodology and objectives
  • Geometry and typical QC steps
  • Statics
  • Velocity analysis
  • Multiple attenuation
  • Imaging and finalisation

The datasets are from Taranaki, New Zealand, and will be used in conjunction with supplied workflows and support data.

Recommended Background

This course requires no previous seismic processing or geophysics knowledge.

Who should attend this course?

Individuals who work with processed seismic data, or would like to gain a better understanding of processing methodology.

Is there a discounted rate for Academics and Students?

Yes there is a reduced rate for Academics and Students of NZD575.00

What will I take away from this course?

A greater understanding of how seismic images are created, and the implications this has on interpretation decisions, and an improved knowledge of key aspects of a typical processing flow, including the importance of geometry and the interplay between statics and velocities.
