Abstract: This project was designed to compile the necessary data and produce a map showing the potential for various regions in the Wellington area to be vulnerable to groundwater contamination. the most widely accepted method for performing such a study is to use the DRASTIC methodology as defined by the US EPA. DRASTIC uses a set of seven key hydrogeologic parameters and gives rules for calculating an index based on these parameters and a set of weighting parameters. In this study two key parameters, out of the seven evaluated, were found to be most important. Maps of these two along with the final map showing the index for vulnerability are given here. (auths)
