Abstract: Measurements of the seismic velocity of shear (S) waves and compressional (P) waves in the near-surface layer on Bluff Hill and the surrounding flats have revealed the shallow velocity structure of the area. Direct and refracted P- and S-wave arrivals were recorded along multichannel seismic profiles at nine sites, and broad differences between the shallow velocity structure on Bluff Hill and that on the surrounding flats were apparent.
