Abstract: This report summarizes biostratigraphic and lithostratigraphic data on the Late Cretaceous-Tertiary of coastal Otago, South Island, New Zealand. The data are from a study of some 27 geographically representative sections and localities including: ASH 17 core; Blackhead Road; Boulder Hill; Brighton; Burnside Quarry; DUU66 core; Double Hill; Fairfield Quarry; Five Forks Bridge and Alum Gully; Hammonds Hill; Herbert Railway Tunnel; Katiki Beach; Kilmog Hill; M/26 core; Manse Road; Milburn; Mitchells Point, Wangaloa; Moeraki-Hampden Beach; Puketeraki Core; Scurr's Pit; Sunnyvale; Tumai Overbridge; Mt Thomson; Waihao River; Waterfall Creek; Wilson Rd. Several of the stratigraphic sections are new and are the result of new exposure and subsurface drilling. New data are provided for well-known sections, including Fairfield Quarry and Boulder Hill. Biostratigraphic data are mainly from dinoflagellate cysts and also include some input from miospores and foraminifera. The results provide refined age control for several facies which were hitherto poorly constrained and are especially significant since the region represents the onland margin of the Great South Basin.
