Abstract: A total of 98 ditch-cutting samples from the interval 2790 m to total depth (4089 m) in the Turi-1 well were examined for calcareous nannofossils. Nannofossil assemblages ranged in age from Early Miocence to Middle Eocene. A number of nannofossil events are recognised which enabled correlation with New Zealand stages, international zonations and magnetobiochronology. Integration of nannofossil distribution data with the existing foraminiferal data has greatly increased the biostratigraphic resolution of the interval. (auth)
