Abstract: Establishment of surface exposure dating techniques using 10Be and 26Al at GNS began in late 1996. Progress so far has seen the establishment of sample preparation methods and the completion of a trial suite of five Antarctic samples at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (USA). Initial difficulties with the preparation methods have been overcome, and some progress made towards improving 10Be analysis at low levels using the GNS tandem accelerator. Blank measurements on BeO carrier used at GNS are reported and discussed. (auth)
