Beavan, R.J.; Hodgkinson, K.M.; Moore, M.A. 1998 Kinematics of the New Zealand plate boundary : field report on the 1998 GPS survey of the Copland and Rangitata networks. Lower Hutt: Institute of Geological & Nuclear Sciences. Institute of Geological & Nuclear Sciences science report 98/07 66 p.

Abstract: During February 1998 the Copland/Rangitata GPS network was remeasured. In addition, a majority of the 1995 Haast network was reoccupied and a new network centred on the mid-Waitaki Valley was measured. This report concentrates on the measurements of the Copland/Rangitata network. The measurements are part of a joint project between the Institute of Geological & Nuclear Sciences (GNS), the University of Oxford (OXF), the University of Otago (OU) and Victoria University of Wellington (VUW). The aims of the 1998 measurements were as follows. 1. Repeat the Copland/Rangitata GPS network, previously measured in full during February 1996 and partially measured during January/February 1994. 2. Repeat most of Haast GPS network previously surveyed in February 1995. Measurements of road points to be done by OU during January. As many helicopter points as practicable to be done in conjunction with Copland/Rangitata measurements. 3. Measure a new GPS network centered on the mid-Waitaki Valley, reoccupying about twenty 1880s trig points. (auth)
