Stewart, C.; Johnston, D.M.; Rosen, M.R.; Boyce, W. 2000 Public involvement in environmental management of Lake Taupo : preliminary results of the 1999 survey. Lower Hutt: Institute of Geological & Nuclear Sciences. Institute of Geological & Nuclear Sciences science report 2000/07 16 p.

Abstract: Individuals and society are frequently required to make decisions about environmental risk. Determining an acceptable level of risk requires making decisions based on individual and community perceptions of the risk. Effective risk management strategies must take into account the differences in perception and attitudes between the many ''stakeholders''. This report presents the findings of a survey undertaken in November 1999. The survey had two aims: to determine the degree of ownership, awareness and acceptance of the Lake Taupo Accord by the local community and perceptions towards environmental issues relating specifically to Taupo.(auth/PM)
