Abstract: The Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GNS) has collected Global Positioning System (GPS) data at geodetic sites throughout many regions of the north Island since 1990 for the purpose of studying ongoing tectonic deformation. During a two-week period over March 2000 GPS observations were undertaken at numerous geodetic stations in the Taranaki and Wanganui region. For may of these stations, this was the first time they were occupied by GNS. (auth)
