Bannister, S.C.; Naish, T.R. 2002 ANDRILL site investigations, New Harbour and McMurdo Ice Shelf, southern McMurdo Sound, Antarctica . Lower Hutt: Institute of Geological & Nuclear Sciences. Institute of Geological & Nuclear Sciences science report 2002/01 24 p.

Abstract: In October and November 2001 multichannel seismic data were acquired along three separate seismic lines, to provide site investigation data for proposed drill sites for the ANDRILL science programme. Two ca.10-km long seismic lines were shot on multi-year sea ice in the New Harbour area, and one 19-km long seismic line was shot on the McMurdo Ice Shelf, south-east of Scott Base and Hut Point Peninsula. These site surveys were carried out with logistic support from Antarctic New Zealand, and funding and personnel from the UK, USA and New Zealand. Here we overview the seismic site investigation work, describe the activities of the seismic team during the seismic operation, and overview the general characteristics of the seismic data. (auth)
