Reyes, A.G. 2007 Petrological study of selected Taihape landslide rock samples. Lower Hutt, N.Z.: GNS Science. GNS Science report 2007/32 14 p.

Abstract: Two samples from a surface exposure of the Taihape Fault and five samples from drillholes BH-4 and BH-5 in the Taihape landslide were studied under the petrographic microscope, SEM-EDX (scanning electron microscope – energy dispersive x-ray) and XRD (x-ray diffractometry). The aim of this study is to compare the mineralogical, textural and chemical characteristics of the fault material with those from the landslide, including (1) the displaced block, (2) a zone of slippage and (3) the underlying intact material.
