    Abstract: Following the 2016 Mw 7.8 KaikĊura Earthquake high resolution aerial photography of the affected area in the northeast of the South Island was captured. Showing fault rupture and landslide failure beyond the areas of limited post-earthquake LiDAR capture, this dataset was to be used for generating the landslide mapping digital dataset and analysing tectonic displacement. GNS Science requested delivery of the raw stereo image pairs from the chosen supplier immediately post capture for in-house photogrammetry processing, to generate an interim dataset for landslide and fault mapping while awaiting final delivery of the aerial datasets from the supplier Aerial Surveys Ltd. The complete set of post-earthquake 2016-2017 raw stereo images were orthorectified and mosaicked in to a single imagery dataset to and compared with pre-event 2015 imagery. Selected areas of interest were processed further to generate Digital Surface Models (DSM) from this post earthquake dataset, and additional 2015 raw stereo imagery were used over the same area to generate pre-event 2015 DSM’s for geomorphic change detection analysis. Analysis from geomorphic change detection identified significant hillside volumetric changes due to landslide failures in the Hapuku, Stanton, Leader and Otemakura catchments and tectonic uplift along the Papatea Fault Block.
