Abstract
GNS science has recently developed a tsunami threat level database (version 3.00) for tsunami early warning purposes in New Zealand with 723 earthquake scenarios around the Pacific Ocean. Here we extend the database to include a further 275 regional earthquake scenarios in New Hebrides, Tonga, Kermadec, Hikurangi, Puysegur and Hjort source areas. Scenarios now exist down to lower magnitudes for all of these source areas. The method and assumptions used to create threat level maps are described in this report. For all the new scenarios we have saved simulated tsunami waveforms at the recently proposed new DART buoys around New Zealand and the New Zealand Realm countries in addition to existing DART buoys and tide gauges in Pacific Ocean. We have also generated scripts of tsunami warning text that describe the tsunami threat level maps in words for radio broadcasting. The generated scripts include the previous 723 threat maps as well as the 275 new maps. (auth)
