Abstract: Meteorites are classified into three main groups because of differences in their mineral composition. They are referred to as irons, stony-irons, and stones. The principal minerals found in meteorites are silicates, nickel-iron alloys, phosphides, and sulphides. The ratio of metal (nickel and iron) to silicate (olivine and pyroxene) is used to separate meteorites into groups
