Berryman, K.R.; Guy, B.G. 1978 Angle - distance site report. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EDS 40 145 p.
Abstract: Angle-distance monitoring as a project was described in the Royal Society of NZ report on Earth Deformation Studies. In that report the term Azimuth-Distance was used but henceforth will be known as Angle-Distance monitoring since technically azimuths were not being measured. To quote from the Royal Society report the pattern of ground marks would be: "Relatively simple observed and (with) easily compared observations...to detect anomalous horizontal deformation. A chain of patterns is recommended in the shear belt of the North Island and the north-east South Island." The project was given priority one status. Work began late in 1975 and this site report presents details of ground marks, the lines of sight to be observed and access notes for the North Island part of the project. Because metrification of NZ map series has started grid references for the NZMS 260 series are included along with NZMS 1 grid references. Distances on all site diagrams are in metric units although diagrams using a map base are at a scale of 1:63,360 (auth)
