McKellar, I.C. 1971 Rip-rap for Mararoa and Te Anau damsites, Manapouri power project. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EG 112 8 p.

Abstract: To give brief statements about a series of sites where hard boulders in the 1 ft to 3 ft diameter size range are obtainable in quantities sufficient to be useful for rip-rap. About 100,000 cubic yards of rip-rap may possibly be needed in the future for a dam at Mararoa at 610 ft so for this a quarry site capable of producing this amount is preferred. Only sites outside the Park boundary are considered. For the purpose on this report, east shoreline beach sites are included, though these sites are on the boundary of the park and in the public interest should be treated with care. (auth)
