Abstract: The geology of the Middlemarch area is portrayed in a 1:50 000 scale geological map of part of East Otago, New Zealand (Topo50 sheet CD16). The area is notable for striking tors of Mesozoic schist, old volcanic centres and historic gold mining at Barewood and Nenthorn. The map is accompanied by an illustrated text describing the geological and geophysical features of the area including geological map units and mineral resources. The geological map and text are in printable PDF format and the geological map data are also available as vector GIS layers. The GIS dataset also includes processed airborne geophysical images (magnetic, electromagnetic and gravity), updated resource occurrence localities, a rock outcrop map and geophysical interpretation.
