Terezow, M. 2017 Disaster prevention, preparedness and recovery plan for the National Paleontological Collection, GNS, Avalon. 2nd ed. Lower Hutt, N.Z.: GNS Science. GNS Science miscellaneous series 107. 28 p.; doi: 10.21420/G2JD06

Abstract: The National Paleontological Collection (NPC), held at GNS Science, Lower Hutt, New Zealand, is a research and outreach asset that is valuable to GNS and the wider scientific community, both national and international. It is classified by the New Zealand Government as a Collection and Database of National Significance and large parts of it are irreplaceable. The main natural or man-made disaster scenarios which could affect the NPC are discussed in this report. This document serves as a disaster preparedness and recovery plan for the NPC. Hazards and goals are clearly identified. Roles and responsibilities of relevant parties are also clearly set out. This plan should be used in conjunction with the GNS Business Continuance and Emergency Response Plan. (auth)
