Abstract: Changes in gravity between 1953 and 1976 at New Zealand Primary Gravity Network Stations between Springfield and Kumara Junction in the South Island show a systematic pattern. A 2.5 micro N/kg change in the interval between Arthurs Pass and Otira could be due either to Arthurs Pass rising with respect to Otira by about 1 m in the last 23 years or to an error in the 1953 survey. Such a large error is unlikely and the values observed at stations suggest a smooth variation in this change along the profile
