Abstract: Magnetic investigations on land and at sea were carried out on the approach path taken by aircraft when landing at Tauranga Airport. The land magnetic observations were taken with a vertical intensity magnetometer in November 1960. Sea observations, as far east as Motiti Island, were made with a proton magnetometer measuring total force, which was towed behind a launch in March 1961. The results are in the form of two maps, one showing magnetic contour lines of vertical intensity, and the other showing magnetic contour lines of total force. (auth)
