Adams, R.D.; Orr, R.H. 1970 Microseismic noise survey in central Wellington. [s.l.]: [s.n.]. Report / Geophysics Division 60 4 p.
Abstract: This survey was undertaken between 1968 and 1970 to determine relative levels of microseismic noise in different parts of central Wellington, as an aid to understanding the vibrational characteristics of different soil types. The measurements were made on a series of runs, in each of which the microseismic noise level was recorded at a number of sites, and then compared with the level at the Dominion Observatory, Kelburn, where the first and last measurements of each run were taken. It is assumed that the background microseismic noise varies uniformly over the whole area with changing weather conditions, and that the relative response of different sites to microseismic noise remains the same. The consistent results obtained in this survey in a variety of seasons and weather conditions show that this assumption is not greatly in error (auth)
