Abstract: A device named Pipelog has been developed to scan for cracks in pipes such as reformer furnace tubes. It is able to detect cracks of width 0.05 mm in steel pipe walls 12 mm thick. Sources of sufficient activity to complete scans in a practical time are available. (auth)
