Abstract: Paleontological analyses of dredge and gravity-core samples collected aboard the Tangaroa in 1997 from the region southwest of Fiordland are presented. Details of sediment type, faunal and floral contents, and interpretations of paleoenvironment and age are given based upon analyses of nannofossils, foraminifera, pollen, spores, and macrofossils.
