Nayyerloo, M.; Uma, S.R. 2014 Seismic instrumentation in Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology Science Block. Lower Hutt, N.Z.: GNS Science. GNS Science report 2014/33 8 p.

Abstract: The building instrumentation project is a part of the GeoNet monitoring programme funded by the New Zealand earthquake commission (EQC). A number of built-up structures (buildings and bridges) are proposed to be instrumented under this programme for the purpose of monitoring their response during earthquakes. The report gives a summary of the seismic instrumentation in Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) Science Block. The building is fitted with 15 tri-axial accelerometers mounted at various levels. There is also a tri-axial accelerometer outside of the building in the lawn area to capture free field motions. Data is principally recorded on a continuous mode and transferred from the site to the GNS data centre through dedicated IP connection. Recorded data from the building are available to researchers and consultants upon request. (auth)
