Henderson, J.; Ongley, M. 1923 The geology of the Mokau Subdivision : with an account of adjoining areas, and of the Te Kuiti district, Pirongia and Taranaki Divisions. Wellington: Government Printer. New Zealand Geological Survey bulletin 24 83 p.

Abstract: The Mokau Subdivision, as described in this bulletin, contains the survey districts of Awakino North, Awakino East, Awakino, and part of Otanake, lying to the north of the Mokau River and forming part of the Pirongia Division, together with the survey districts of Tainui, Mokau, and a small portion of Totoro lying to the south of the river and belonging to the Taranaki Division. This area, 322 square miles, was examined in detail. In addition, a much larger area extending to the north, east, and south of the subdivision was hurriedly and imperfectly explored. An account of the geology of the district thus covered is included; and with this report is published a map, on the scale of four miles to the inch, showing most of the area. This map is in addition to two other maps on a larger scale - one of the Mokau Subdivision, and the other of an area in the neighbourhood of Te Kuiti. (auth)
