Modriniak, N.; Marsden, E. 1938 Experiments in geophysical survey in New Zealand. Government Printer: Wellington. Geological memoirs / New Zealand Geological Survey 4. 92 p.

Abstract: Experiments in geophysical prospecting have been in progress during the past three years in various parts of New Zealand, with the idea of providing a background of experience whereon to judge the value and limits of new methods and their future application, taking into account the probable development towards improvements in apparatus and technique. The object of the survey, in general, was to advance the knowledge of the use and application of geophysical methods on New Zealand, and to bring into prominence the value of correlating geophysical and geological observations on theoretical and practical problems, and further, to direct the energy of the parties as much as possible into such channels as promised to yield immediate economic results. The aim of the DSIR in presenting this collection of results is to provide examples of current practice and results, and so afford an opportunity to any section of the community interested to acquaint itself with the practical and economical possibilities of this applied science.
