Te Punga, M.T. 1953 The geology of Rangitikei Valley. New Zealand Geological Survey: Wellington. Memoir / New Zealand Geological Survey 8. 44 p.

Abstract: An area of approximately 800 square miles has been examined, and the results of the investigation are shown in the accompanying maps and figures. The original purpose of the investigation was to examine the terraces of the Rangitikei Valley with the object of deciphering the Late Quaternary history. However, as this involved detailed traversing of the valley, the writer decided to study the stratigraphy as well. While examining the relation of the terraces of the valley system to the agglomerate material in the Hautapu Valley, it was found necessary to map this deposit and to discuss the problem of its emplacement.
