Mortimer, N.; Te Hikoi Southern Journey Heritage Museum 2009 A guide to the geology of the Riverton-Aparima district. Lower Hutt: GNS Science. GNS Science miscellaneous series 26 1 folded brochure

Abstract: The human history of the Riverton-Aparima district goes back several hundred years, but its geological origins go back deeper in time, to 280 million years ago. This is a hidden history of supercontinents, volcanoes, submerged land, ice ages and rising mountains. The minerals, fossils and structures within rocks are geological ''flight recorders'' and, if we know how to read them, they reveal what has happened to them since their formation. The purpose of this brochure is to guide you to a few beaches between Riverton-Aparima and Tuatapere, and explain the geology you can see there. (auth)
