Abstract: To aid description Canterbury heavy mineral samples have been divided into seven regional groups: Haumuri, Waipara, Oxford, Mt Somers, Kakahu, Waitaki, and Oamaru. Results have been analysed using factor, cluster, and discriminant analysis. Some Torlesse samples have been examined in addition to those from the Cretaceous and Tertiary.
