Smale, D. 1982 Heavy minerals from Cretaceous sandstones of Pitt Island, Chatham Islands. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report SL 3 6 p.

Abstract: The twelve sandstone samples analysed were collected by M.G. Laird during the course of field work in February 1977. Locations are shown on Fig 1. Most sandstones present on Pitt Island are Cretaceous; they gave place in the Tertiary to tuffs and limestones. The samples were examined to give additional information on provenance, and to assess the extent and significance of variations in composition.
