Dibble, R.R. 1953 The testing and selecting of sites for Wood-Anderson seismographs. [s.l.]: [s.n.]. Report / Geophysics Division 6 9p.
Abstract: Sites have been tested for microseisms and artificial disturbances using a Century Geophysical Prospecting Seismograph and a portable Wood-Anderson seismograph. The Century seismograph does not give sufficient information if used alone because its low frequency response is inferior to the Wood-Anderson. It was found necessary to record an earthquake at each site in order to compare recording characteristics with our permanent stations. A discussion of the relative merits of various lithologic foundations is included and the conclusions drawn are that hard basement rocks such as greywacke are superior to Tertiary sedimentary rocks and that recent unconsolidated foundations should be avoided (auth)
